Workshops

You will have the option to choose one of three full-day, intensive workshops.

Beginning WordPress

A primer for those who have never used WordPress before. If you’ve already installed WordPress or have a site up, this workshop is probably not for you. If you still feel like you’ve got a lot to learn, that’s what the rest of the weekend is for!

Design: From Zero to Prototype on a Budget

This is a workshop that will cover many steps of the Design Thinking Methodology, taking a problem, ideating solutions, then prototyping those solutions. No technical or design experience is required. The processes shown here can be worked into your own strengths and skills whatever those might be. No technical or design experience is required. The processes shown here can be worked into your own strengths and skills whatever those might be. By the end of the workshop we will:

  • Participate in an Ideation Session
  • Create a paper prototype
  • Test our Solution

WordPress Development

First, we’re going to go over some local development environments, as ewll as an intro to the command line and git. Then we’ll spend time learning how to create your own theme, your own plugin, debug code in WordPress, and start with WP-CLI.

When you buy a ticket to WordCamp Orlando you have to select which workshop you want to participate in. We are bounded by class size and need to ensure that we have a space reserved for you.

Note that workshop tickets DO NOT include a full weekend ticket. You can purchase both tickets at once, and a weekend ticket will be required to attend Saturday and Sunday as well as get a t-shirt and other swag. Continue the conversations with other attendees and workshop facilitators, and attend sessions to continue learning new skills!
